[WLG] World Law Group Summit in Riga 2025
World Law Group Summit in Riga 2025: Fostering Collaboration and Innovation Across Borders
Our Partners, Christina Kow, Jamie Goh and Michelle Lim had an insightful and engaging experience when they attended the World Law Group (WLG) Summit held in Riga, Latvia on 29 – 31 May 2025, which brought together member firms to explore the dynamic forces shaping the global business landscape and legal profession.
As with all WLG events, the recent Summit was a thoughtfully curated event which featured a diverse and forward-thinking agenda, with sessions exploring the increasing integration of ESG into corporate governance and legal practice, rapidly shifting global regulatory and geopolitical landscape, innovation in law firm management as well as key trends that are reshaping client needs.
One of the key engaging discussions focused on futureproofing law firms, emphasizing the importance of staying ahead of evolving client expectations and industry shifts through innovation and adaptability in law firm management.
Beyond the formal sessions, the Summit provided ample opportunity for delegates to interact and get to know each other in more relaxed settings. From shared dinners to organized activities, these moments of informal interaction were invaluable to creating as well as strengthening relationships across the network.
An instance of the many memorable highlights was the closing plenary, where Sorainen (the host firm) invited an award-winning Latvian composer, Rihards Zalupe, to share his musings when composing the score for the film, Flow. His musings introduced the concept of “flow” – a mindset of deep focus, full immersion and enjoyment in one’s work. His words, “True fulfilment is found in embracing the process itself, not just in chasing outcomes or results” serve as a reminder for lawyers facing challenges in the evolving legal profession and broader global environment.
We were also proud to contribute to the WLG Impact Activity, during which delegates and their guest built 45 birdhouses in support of Ligatne Nature Trails, a nature conservation initiative in Latvia – an inspiring way to give back to the local community and environment.
In addition to the engaging programming, Jamie Goh and Michelle Lim, had the pleasure to visit Sorainen’s office in the neighbouring country of Estonia. These in-person connections strengthen our shared commitment to cross-border legal collaboration and client service excellence.
We look forward to the continued collaboration and to future opportunities for cross-border legal collaboration within the WLG network.
